NASHVILLE METRO PARKS FILM PERMIT

Planning to film or photograph in a Nashville park?

Commercial film, video and photography shoots in Metro Nashville Parks require approval from the Metropolitan Board of Parks + Recreation.

Film and video productions may also require a permit through Metro Nashville's Office of Film + Special Events, so a Parks permit should not automatically be treated as your only required approval.

HOW TO APPLY

Metro Parks has a dedicated Film, Video + Photography Permit Application.

The application asks for information about your production, including:

  • Production company + contact information

  • Park or location requested

  • Shoot date + hours

  • Type of production

  • Number of people involved

  • Equipment

  • Vehicles

  • Special production requirements

Davidson County resident/business: $150 per day

Non-Davidson County resident/business: $180 per day

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Metro Parks requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for commercial filming.

The current minimum general liability requirement is:

$1,000,000

The Metropolitan Board of Parks & Recreation must be named as additionally insured.

Review the current application for the exact insurance requirements and wording before requesting your COI.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU APPLY?

Apply as early as possible once your location and shoot dates are confirmed.

Metro Parks notes that applications submitted with less than 48 hours' notice may not be granted.

Larger productions or shoots requiring additional coordination should allow considerably more time.

YOU MAY ALSO NEED A METRO FILM PERMIT

For film and video projects, Metro Parks states that productions also require a permit through Metro's Film Division.

Depending on your production, additional approvals may also be necessary for streets, parking, traffic control or other uses outside the park itself.

DRONES IN METRO PARKS

Don't assume an FAA-approved drone flight automatically gives you permission to operate from Metro Parks property.

Metro Parks has separate rules regarding drone operations, and productions should confirm current requirements directly with Parks before including drone activity in a shoot plan.
