METRO NASHVILLE CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
Productions filming on Metro Nashville property must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) as part of the film permitting process.
According to Metro Nashville's current Film Production Permit + Location Agreement, the production must obtain insurance from a company authorized to do business in Tennessee and acceptable to Metro.
GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE
Metro Nashville currently requires:
General Liability: Minimum $1,000,000
The Certificate of Insurance must name:
The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, its officers, employees and agents
as their interests may appear.
The COI must be provided and accepted by Metro before the production can access the permitted Metro property.
AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE
If the production will use automobiles on the permitted Metro property, Metro also requires:
Automobile Liability: Minimum $1,000,000
This is separate from the general liability requirement.
FILMING INSIDE OR USING A METRO STRUCTURE
If the production is using a Metro-owned structure, Metro currently requires additional coverage for potential damage to that structure:
Property Damage Coverage: Minimum $500,000
This coverage can either be included in the production's general liability policy or carried under a separate policy.
FILMING IN METRO PARKS
Metro Parks has its own Certificate of Insurance requirements.
For commercial film, video and photography permits, Metro Parks currently requires:
General Liability: Minimum $1,000,000
The COI must name the:
Metropolitan Board of Parks & Recreation

as Additionally Insured.

BEFORE REQUESTING YOUR COI
When asking your insurance broker to issue a Certificate of Insurance for a Nashville film permit, provide them with the current Metro requirements rather than relying on insurance language from another city or a previous production.
Requirements can also vary depending on the location and scope of your shoot.
